Handling Anxiety with Mindfulness

What is this thing called anxiety?

Anxiety is something that lives inside all of us and can sometimes cause us to stop ourselves from truly living the life that we desire. Anxiety can have a lot of symptoms, physically and emotionally and these symptoms can be felt throughout your entire body. It can predict thoughts, feelings, and how we behave.

I have struggled with anxiety for a long time and it stems from me overanalyzing every thought that enters my mind. I think a lot about my past and constantly about my future and it overwhelms me, it causes me to become stagnant where I allow my thoughts to take over me and I feel stuck. I couldn’t continue to live like this so I had to learn to overcome my thoughts and that’s where practicing mindful meditation is teaching me how to do this day by day.

What is Mindfulness?

Basically, mindfulness is being present in the moment, in the now! Focus on what’s happening right now and how you’re feeling inside. When practicing mindful meditation focus on your breath but if your mind wanders acknowledge those thoughts and feelings but move on and continue to focus on your breath. Your mind will wander a lot but remember this is a journey that takes practice, so be patient and non-judgmental with yourself on this positive path to life.

Once you begin this journey you will start to learn to let those never-ending thoughts not take hold of you. Now, this is not something that is easy, this will take time, so please be patient and know that in the long run, you will be the peaceful person you have always dreamed of.

I leave you with love, peace, & positivity. Namaste!
